The announcement text: |
We’re an upscale charity thrift shop in the Gramercy Park neighborhood, looking to hire someone to work 4-5 days a week including fridays (we close early) and sundays..
We need a strong, tidy, self sufficient and organized person to:
- HELP CUSTOMERS AND DONORS MOVE THEIR PURCHASES AND DONATIONS INTO AND OUT OF THE STORE
- KEEP THE FURNITURE, CLOTHING, AND OTHER MERCHANDISE ON THE SALES FLOOR ORGANIZED AND CLEAN
- MOVE FURNITURE
- CLEAN INCOMING DONATIONS
- HELP WITH LOSS PREVENTION
It is not unusual to scrub off an ancient set of china or move a sleeper sofa among an oblivious crowd of seniors, so anyone who works here should be prepared to roll up their sleeves and get dirty while remaining polite and helpful.
The ideal candidate for this job has some retail experience, and is knowledgeable enough about twentieth century design to help us in separating trash from treasure. Our store is sometimes hectic – sometimes you will be asked to do many things at once and will have to both prioritize and multi-task. We are looking for someone energetic and enthusiastic who can take initiative to really keep the store running smoothly.
While working here is sometimes tough, it is an ideal position for the person who enjoys working with people, antiques, furniture, books, etc. The atmosphere here is casual but professional and the staff is friendly if often a little offbeat. There are many opportunities and rewards for the right person in this position.
Please cut and paste your resume into the body of your email, and include a blurb about yourself and why your experience or knowledge of antiques, collectibles, design history, flea markets and yard sales would make you a valuable addition to our staff. All emails lacking a resume in the body of the email or blurb will not be read. Please impress us with how smart and thorough you are by doing this and showing that you have actually read the entire ad.
If you feel that you can further impress us with special talents or areas of expertise, pictures, your website/profile, etc. please do!
Compensation: $11-$13 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE
Principals only. Recruiters, please don`t contact this job poster.
Please, no phone calls about this job!
Please do not contact job poster about other services, products or commercial interests.
